THE BMW, one of the largest automakers in the world, recently announced that it will recall about 15,000 iXs and X1s cars manufactured between the years 2022 and 2023.

BMW included 6,339 X1s and 9,464 iXs in the campaign, totaling 15,803 vehicles.

On February 7, decided to initiate a recall campaign for the 2022-2023 X1 xDrive28i models manufactured between August 2, 2022 and February 1, 2023, as well as for the 2022-2023 iX xDrive40, xDrive50 and iX M60 models manufactured between October 14, 2021 and February 1, 2023.

The measure aims to solve a problem related to the safety of passengers such as the airbags and assistance system.

According to BMW, a defect in the software of the driver assistance systems has been identified, which can lead to a sudden and unintentional deceleration of the vehicle.

This fault can occur in situations of high electrical load, such as when the battery is being charged on a fast charger or when the air conditioner is under heavy use.

Although no accidents have been reported so far, the German automaker has decided to act preventively to avoid possible risks to its customers.

BMW said it will update the driver assistance systems software on affected vehicles free of charge.

To carry out the recall, BMW will contact the owners of affected vehicles directly via letter.
