Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 2023: updates

The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 model year 2023 received tire updates, for example. See below for these updates.

It's the not-so-distant future — maybe the next decade, or 2026, or maybe six months from now. For a more specific scenario, let's say the Colorado River finally dried up.

Luckily, there's a Chevrolet dealership nearby with a Chevrolet 2023 Colorado ZR2 right in the showroom. If my test drive of this redesigned truck is any indication, you can outrun Mad Max Rockatansky himself across the entire state of Nevada in this thing. You will be fine and even have cooled seats.

The magic of the new ZR2 isn't really under the hood. It's slightly faster than the rest of the lineup with 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque -- about 40 lb-ft more than the Z71 -- but uses the same 2.7-liter I4 turbo paired with the same eight-speed engine. automatic transmission like the rest of the model lineup.

The difference in power over the Z71 and Trail Boss variants of the Chevrolet Colorado comes solely from the tuning.

A deeper dive into its chassis reveals some of the ZR2's potential off-road prowess, however, thanks to a 3.0-inch rise over the base model (giving the ZR2 an impressive 10.7 inches of ground clearance).

Looking at the truck reveals some visible creeping sideburns thanks to a factory set of sliders. It has a slightly flared track over other 66.3-inch trims and has a fantastic 38.3-degree approach angle – almost eight degrees more than the Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss and nine more than the Z71.

That's thanks to a complete chassis redesign for this generation, which moved the front axle more than three inches forward to help shorten the front overhang.

Instead of using a traditional shock piston and shims to adjust pressure at speed, the Multimatic uses spool valves.

These valves open and close at different rates depending on speed and pressure, which causes oil to flow through ports inside the shock body. This allows for fine tuning of shock response throughout the suspension's compression range.

Its design is lower heat – and therefore higher strength and much less wear – than a traditional shock design too.

O Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 has all the road balance, handling, and NVH of much more subdued trucks; with its price of US $ 48,295 (R$243,846), it really does make a reasonable everyday choice for the driver if the 62-inch bed and 6,000-pound towing capacity are enough for your hauling capabilities.

Even after three days of riding in the desert, I wasn't even sore; it's so comfortable. He will perform the mundane gathering service well.
