Found 1978 Chevrolet Chevelle abandoned for nearly 50 years

A very rare copy of the 1978 Chevrolet Chevelle, it is found in a garage after being idle for almost 50 years.

The Chevrolet Chevelle entered the market in 1963, to be the direct rival of the Ford Fairlane. And it turned out to be one of the brand's biggest hits.

Initially the Chevrolet Chevelle consisted of a 6.5 liter V8 engine. Already at the beginning of the 70's it included in its range the 7.0 liter version and the 7.4 liter version.

This latest version of the sports car had 360 horsepower, but later Chevrolet also released a more powerful version.

Then called the LS6, the Chevelle featured a Holley 4-cylinder carburetor. This one that generated an impressive 450 horsepower in tests, but many claimed to reach 500 horsepower.

For lovers of sports vehicles, the Chevrolet Chevelle was the dream of consumption at that time. One of the best known of the Muscle Cars era.

And it's not a vehicle abandoned in a parking lot, all rusty and badly treated. No, this is a very rare specimen in perfect condition.

That's why it was said among collectors to be the "Holy Grail" of guarded vehicles. Because its state of conservation is impeccable for a car that has spent so much time on the road.

Of course it was found with a very thick layer of dust, but no rust on its bodywork.

Only one detail takes away the total originality of the car, which is the paintwork. For this example left the factory in mid-1978 still with its white stripes. Now the stripes are orange.

But finally its owner decided to sell it, after numerous negotiations, and today it has returned to the roads as the phenomenal sports car it has always been.
