Toyota Prius Prime MSRP 2023

The new Toyota Prius Prime MSRP model 2023 promises up to 70 km without having to recharge the battery. Keep reading and find out more details!

The United States has yet to recover from sales to Toyota of last year, and the first quarter of 2023 was not yet clear.

But its crossovers, SUVs and pickup trucks are doing just fine – it's just passenger cars that need a shake-up these days.

The 2023 Toyota Prius has been on sale for some time now, with a starting MSRP of $ 27,450 (R$138,460), so now we're talking about its more developed plug-in hybrid twin, the 2023 Toyota Prius Prime.

Without further ado, the five-door liftback PHEV starts at exactly $ 32,350 (R$178,308). Unfortunately, that's not the purchase price, as a 'Dealer Processing and Handling' fee of $$ 1,095 (R$5,525) still needs to be added, and Toyota notes that prices are subject to change.

The latter includes an increase of 76% (40 km) in EV-only range, with the manufacturer (not the EPA, however) estimating the figure at almost 71 km on a single charge of its new 13.6 kWh battery.

The latter can be recharged at any household outlet and will take 11 hours to absorb all the electrons at 120V, or about four hours when using a level 2 charger.

Built on the TNGA-C platform, the Toyota Prius Prime has 0.27 Cd (coefficient of drag) and comes with the company's fifth-generation hybrid system.

It combines a fairly large 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric generator and electric motor, with its new output rating jumping 100 ponies over the previous generation to 220 hp.

Torque has also increased 32% from 105 to 142 to 188 Nm and now the sprint time from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) has dropped 35% to 6.6 seconds. Of course, being a hybrid, another important rating is the combined efficiency, which is 52 mpg (4.52 l/100 km).
