Audi SQ5: latest generation model
The new Audi SQ5 is a state-of-the-art 2024 model year that has been seen on the streets in testing. Keep reading and check out what's new about this model!
It's been almost a year since the next generation of the Audi SQ5 and now the hot crossover is back in a new set of photos.
Seen up close and at the Nürburgring, the rival BMW X3 M40i looks different than before, as it finally has all the production body panels in place, as well as the front and rear end lights.
As with the other S models, it's rocking a quad exhaust system, which we hope is real this time around.
Those black alloy wheels are small, but that's probably because the prototype still had winter tires. Expect the production model to offer a variety of larger alloy sets with a nicer design.
As with the regular Audi Q5, the performance version seems to borrow design cues from the all-electric Q4 E-Tron, but obviously with a functional grille to cool the combustion engine. The air intakes on the sides of the bumper seem to serve a purpose, as they are not completely blocked.
Although the Audi SQ5 prototype is fully camouflaged, we can see that the clamshell tailgate has disappeared as it no longer fully contains the taillights. Consequently, the opening is probably a little narrower now, but seems wide enough for loading/unloading bulkier loads.
It's also easy to see that Audi has fitted considerably slimmer taillights, and the undercover tailgate appears to be hiding a light bar because they're apparently mandatory in 2023.

Photos showing the interior aren't available on this set, but a different Q5 prototype was seen late last year showing off its screen-heavy panel. Unfortunately, the infotainment will once again be a screen sticking out of the center console and will be even larger than on the previous model.
This will be the last generation Audi Q5 powered by combustion engines, as the Four Rings have already announced that all new product launches from 2026 will be EVs.
It's unclear whether the Audi SQ5 will keep its V6 engine or downsize to a four-banger. Another piece of the puzzle we're missing is whether the Ingolstadt folks will finally release an RS Q5 to take on the X3 M and AMG GLC 63.
wait for the Audi Standard Q5 will appear later this year, with the spicy Audi SQ5 likely in 2024.
