BYD Song L EV 2023 will debut in China

The new BYD Song L EV year 2023 will be launched in China, having a mix of a Kia EV6 with a Porsche Tail. See more below!

BYD continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup, and the latest model to join the pack is the BYD Song L, a coupe-style crossover with an all-electric powertrain that debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show. The launch of the model in the Chinese market is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023.

The BYD Song L doesn't have a typical SUV stance, but looks more like a crossover with a coupe-style rear end.

The proportions and darkened A-pillars are similar to the Kia EV6, while the rear view resembles the Porsche Cayenne Coupe largely due to the shape of the full-width LED taillights.

At the front, there's an illuminated grille and LED headlamps similar to those on the BYD Han, combined with a sculpted bumper with large air intakes.

The rear is even sportier thanks to the pronounced shoulders, the double rear spoiler above the steeply raked rear window, the vertical vents in the bumper and the massive diffuser finished in carbon fiber.

There's also an active rear spoiler that automatically retracts when needed, recessed door handles and cameras that replace the mirrors, contributing to the vehicle's aerodynamics.

The BYD Song L runs on the 3.0 electronics platform, which underpins many other Chinese-branded EVs, including the Seal. The automaker did not detail the new model's specifications, but the architecture supports single or dual electric motor layouts and BYD's Blade 800V battery for decent range.

The model also benefits from special battery integration technology and intelligent active vehicle control systems.

The new "B-Class Pure Electric SUV", as described by the automaker, is part of BYD's Dynasty series, borrowing its name from the Song Dynasty, which ruled eastern China between 960 and 1279.

We expect to learn more about this as we approach its market launch in the last quarter of the year. Among your rivals will be the Tesla Model Y, which is expected to receive a series of updates in 2024.
