Pickup trucks are losing ground to SUVs

Did you know that pickup trucks are losing ground to SUVs in the US? So keep reading and find out why this is happening!

According to research carried out by S&P Global Mobility, in 2022 the number of pickup trucks sold in the United States has dropped a lot compared to the last 10 years.

Thus, the study confirmed that large pickup trucks such as the Ram 1500, the Ford F-150 and the Chevrolet Silverado model were the least sold in these last two years.

What has been happening is that the line of SUVs has become more and more modern and with a more sporty style, characteristics that have been more attractive.

To give you an idea, in 2022, in the third and fourth quarters, around 7.8% and 7.5% were sold, and the last time this happened was in 2012.

The study carried out by S&P concluded that this decrease in sales of pickup trucks in the United States happened because the owners are preferring the SUVs.

Therefore, these cars are modern, powerful and economical, and can be used on trips on dirt roads.

However, another point that the study observed is that although the number of sales of large pickup trucks has decreased, when compared to other models of pickup trucks, there are differences.

Models of large trucks like the RAM 3500 still have a significant number of sales compared to small pot trucks.

In other words, pickup truck enthusiasts still prefer large trucks over convertible SUVs.

In this way, what can be concluded is that the owners who had pickup trucks and exchanged them for an SUV car probably used these cars only for leisure.

Now, it remains to wait and see if this same scenario will be repeated in Brazil, although the number of SUVs sold is higher compared to that of pickup trucks.
