Scout Electric SUV 2025

The Scout Electric SUV 2025 is a car from the Chinese company BYD. Keep reading and check out what the Giro dos Motores website has separated for you!

The Volkswagen Group is reviving the iconic Scout nameplate in the form of an electric SUV – or RUV, as in “Rugged Utility Vehicle” – and an electric pickup truck.

Both off-roaders will be built at a dedicated Scout factory in the US starting in 2025 and are expected to go on sale shortly thereafter.

It's still very early in the lifecycle of these two vehicles, but we've already seen some teasers that give an idea of what the brand's first two trucks could look like.

There's still a lot to learn about the Scout SUV and its pickup truck sister by the time they hit the production line, but here's everything you need to know in the meantime.

The interior of the SUV remains a mystery, but traditional elements common in other off-road vehicles should be part of the interior.

Rubberized floor mats, vinyl seats and extensive waterproofing are almost certainly part of the formula, with a little advanced technology thrown in.

The Scout SUV and pickup will be electric. But while the VW already has a dual-engine, all-wheel drive version of its MEB platform in production, it will use an entirely unique platform developed specifically for off-roading.

A four-wheel-drive dual-engine setup is almost guaranteed, but three- and four-engine setups aren't entirely out of the question, as long as the Scout is able to keep the price reasonable.

To compete with the Bronco and Jeep Wrangler, the SUV would have to have hardcore off-road kit like a locking rear differential and long-travel suspension.

This EV would also need to be able to tow and haul and have enough range to get to the trail, cross it and come back.

The Scout SUV should offer more than 643 km of range. And in terms of horsepower, 300 hp would be a safe bet that would put the Scout in relative competition with the base 275 horsepower Bronco and the 285 horsepower Jeep Wrangler.

The VW Group is building a dedicated Scout factory in Columbia, South Carolina. The automaker says it will be able to manufacture up to 250,000 vehicles annually and that the factory will support 4,000 permanent jobs in the area.

Most likely, we'll see the first prototypes in 2024 before production in 2025 and a sale date in late 2026.

It's unclear exactly how it plans to sell its new electric off-road vehicles; the National Automobile Dealers Association and several state associations contacted the VW with questions about how the Scout brand will be sold in the United States, but nothing has been confirmed.

With the current trend of online EV sales growing, Scout may follow a similar path.
